What is Sculptra made of?
Sculptra is a synthetic polymer of lactic acid, which our muscles naturally produce after strenuous exercise. Sculptra is made in a laboratory and contains no animal products. It is bio-compatible and very gradually breaks down in your body by the processes of your own cell enzymes.
What makes Sculptra different?
Unlike dermal fillers such as Juvéderm, Sculptra is a collagen stimulator. Rather than being an injected gel that dissolves over time, Sculptra works with your body to force it to produce new collagen. This long-lasting rejuvenation helps prevent wrinkles, drooping and loss of volume.
What can I expect from Sculptra treatments?
Sculptra also differs from other injectable products in that it does not result in immediately noticeable effects. Instead, your appearance will gradually improve over a series of facial injections, as Sculptra begins stimulating the production of collagen. The number of injections and amount of Sculptra needed vary among individuals, and Dr. Sinha will determine the best course of treatment for each patient during a comprehensive consultation.
The effects of Sculptra are subtle, and Dr. Sinha typically completes a course of injection treatments in three sessions, four to six weeks apart. This waiting period allows the product time to stimulate your own collagen before more product is added.
After each treatment, the skin will begin to produce more of its own natural collagen. The natural-looking and flattering results from Sculptra injections typically last about two years.
Mild swelling may occur at the injection site, but typically subsides within two days.
